Oinari san お稲荷さん

I was lucky to find this charming and
graceful pair of Oinari san お稲荷さん,
the Japanese white fox, during my recent
trip to Japan. While old, they depict
the strong, pleasing character of these
sacred guardians.

Oinari san are messengers and servants
to the Shinto God or Goddess of rice
and food. They always appear in pairs.
One has a key to the rice storehouse,
the sustenance of life. The other has
a sacred jewel that helps to resist the
evil influence of kimon.

I hope you enjoy this picture and that
the Oinari san bring you good health and
sustenance.
